Ed Kuepper

In Brisbane in the 70s he co-founded The Saints; Sydney in the late 70s the no-wavish The Laughing Clowns; and later in the 90s The Aints. And in between where real life happens over a dozen albums with a variety of backing bands - Ed Kuepper and the Yard Goes On Forever, Ed Kuepper and his Oxley Creek Playboys, Ed Kuepper and The Institute Of Nude Wrestling, The Exploding Universe of Ed Kuepper, Ed Kuepper and the New Imperialists etc. In recent years he has been involved in soundtracks for radio drama and experimental films. 2007 saw the release of Ed Kuepper and the Kowalski Collective’s Jean Lee and the Yellow Dog, inspired by the story of Jean Lee the last woman hanged in Australia, and features Jeffrey Wegener (Laughing Clowns), Peter Oxley (Sunnyboys), Warren Ellis (Dirty Three), and Chris Bailey (The Saints). After extensive touring in 2008 opening for Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, and upon the departure of Mick Harvey in early 2009, for a temporary period he joined the Bad Seeds as a touring guitarist. Latest releases are The Aints album The Church of Simultaneous Existence and mini EP 5-6-7-8-9 in 2019.
