Lachlan Bryan

Lachlan Bryan and the Wildes are a genre-bending, critically acclaimed country band from Melbourne. Their eclectic, literate records and live shows have gained them a loyal fanbase in Australia and The UK over the past decade. They’ve flown the flag of Americana and Country in Australia since their first record in 2010, and have supported many of the greats including Steve and Justin Townes Earle, Joe Pug, John Hiatt, Shawn Colvin and Joan Armatrading - as well as more contemporary acts like The North Mississippi Allstars and Lord Huron.

2020 looked full of promise for LB and The Wildes. They’d been booked for a string of country and folk festivals throughout the UK, Germany, Canada, The USA and Australia – and were looking forward to releasing and touring a new record. Of course, Covid changed everybody’s plans, but the band still managed to connect with fans through their regular ‘Drunken Piano Bar’ live stream, which beamed out of LB’s grandparents’ house and featured special guests from around the world.

Lachlan Bryan and The Wildes are due to perform at Dashville Skyline, Out on the Weekend and Groundwater Music Festival before the year is through - as well as continuing to headline the Americana Carnival series.

AS LONG AS IT’S NOT US is the new studio record from Lachlan Bryan and The Wildes. The first single, 'You Remind Me of Myself', came out over a year ago, scoring high rotation on Double J and ABC Country, as well as a bunch of spins on all the community stations, reaching critical acclaim. That song hinted at a different direction for the band’s sound, and listeners immediately notice the record pushes the definition of ‘country’ or ‘Americana’.

Lachlan, Damian and Shaun played, sampled and programmed all the instruments –beginning the job in late 2019 and finishing in June 2021. Despite the new sound, and the different methodology, the songs are LB and The Wildes most intensely personal to date. They take in break-ups, isolation, depression (sometimes of the manic variety) and a series of ongoing existential crises’ – and show the band at both their most jubilant and most despairing –all within around 38 minutes. "More than ever”, explains Lachlan, “we’re inviting you to experience the highs and lows with us. And to be honest, the highs have been higher, and lows lower, than we’ve ever been through before. I suspect we’re not alone in that”.

Lachlan Bryan and The Wildes' new album 'As Long As It's Not Us' debuted at #30 on the ARIA Albums chart, #5 on the Australian Artists Albums chart, #3 on the Country Albums chart and #1 on the Australian Artists Country Albums chart!
