Laura Mvula

There’s something special about this young lady from Birmingham...

Laura Mvula's debut single ‘She’ appeared out of nowhere in November 2012 and almost overnight won huge praise from influential UK music critics.

Following a nomination for the 2013 BRITs Critics’ Choice Award and included in the coveted BBC Sound of 2013 longlist, Laura Mvula’s debut album ‘Sing to the Moon’ was released on 4th March 2013 through RCA Victor (Sony).

Described as “the voice of 2013” by The Evening Standard, the classically trained, singer-songwriter fuses orchestral soul with velvet harmonies and emotional vocals, giving nods to Nina Simone, George Gershwin and Björk amongst others. A graduate from the Birmingham Conservatoire with a degree in composition, the 26-year-old is a unique collision of her Caribbean background and formal music.

In August 2014 Laura released a stunning orchestral version of her debut album 'Sing To The Moon'. This new LP was recorded at Abbey Road Studios with the 52 piece Dutch Metropole Orkest, led by conductor Jules Buckley.

Her second album 'The Dreaming Room' is due for release June 2016.
