Half Moon Run - 'Sun Leads Me On'

Half Moon Run - 'Sun Leads Me On'

Today Half Moon Run release 'Sun Leads Me On' - the follow up to their accomplished 2013 debut 'Dark Eyes'.

'Sun Leads Me On' eschews the alt-folk melancholia of ‘Dark Eyes’ in favour of a collective voyage of personal self-discovery. It's a more spacious and balanced album than its predecessor, and the sound of a band with less to prove and more to say. From the quaint downtempo  'Warmest Regards' to the dark, danceable synths of 'Trust'; from the sweeping arpeggios and grand harmonising of lead single 'Turn Your Love In' to the sophisticated new wave strutting of 'Consider Yourself' via the Bob Dylan-esque pluckiness of 'Devil May Care' – it’s a diverse body of work.

Talking about some of the frustrations the band had to work through when writing the album, and how the title came about, Dylan Phillips explains: “'Sun Leads Me On’ came from a place that felt a little bit like being underwater. You kept powering through because ultimately it was worth it. The sun just keeps pulling you forward, and you just keep.... trying to find beauty in what you do.”
