Universal Music Publishing Group have signed Sydney-based electronic duo Bag Raiders to an exclusive, world-wide music publishing agreement.
“Bag Raiders have experienced significant live, chart, radio and synch success around the world since the release of their debut album 18 months ago and we are looking forward to helping them build further upon this platform. Chris and Jack are incredibly talented and versatile songwriters and UMPG will be actively facilitating a number of exciting opportunities that exist within and beyond the Bag Raiders sphere,” said Heath Johns, Director of A&R, Universal Music Publishing Group- Australia.
Bag Raiders are Jack Glass and Chris Stracey. Bursting onto the global dance scene as acclaimed remixers and club DJ’s du jour, it wasn’t long before they began to compose and craft their own tunes under the Bag Raiders moniker. In October 2010, Bag Raiders unleashed their stunning, self-titled debut upon the world, it subsequently debuted at an impressive #7 on the ARIA albums chart and spawned 3 hit singles, the ARIA certified Gold selling ‘Shooting Stars’, ‘Sunlight’ and ‘Way Back Home’. The latter was featured as part of a major telco commercial in Germany and the song has since surpassed Gold status in that territory.
The band have enjoyed further global synch success with their music featuring in campaigns across the U.S., Europe, Asia and of course at home in Australia. “Super excited to have linked up with the Universal Music Publishing team! It's great timing for us as we're bunkered down in the studio in LA doing nothing but writing,” said Chris and Jack of Bag Raiders.
After 18 months of sold-out headlining shows, appearances at iconic international festivals including Ultra (USA), Melt (Germany) and Lovebox (UK) as well as main stage appearances at Australia’s Parklife, Stereosonic and Good Vibrations, the time has come for Bag Raiders to retreat to the studio without distraction to prepare their eagerly awaited follow-up album but not before they hit local stages for the first time this year on a nationwide tour in April. The in demand duo will then return to LA to continue writing and recording their second album whilst also exploring further song-writing opportunities with a diverse array of artists. Expect to hear new music from Bag Raiders via Modular Recordings later in 2012.
