Pop Vulture

Emerging from the vibrant Leeds DIY music scene, Pop Vulture wield influences from the dissonance of the No-Wave movement and the unconventionality of post-punk and drape them over tightly-wound grooves. All of this simmers away underneath stream-of-consciousness narrative themes, often of mental health and the relentlessness of living.

Having introduced themselves through support slots with bands such as Yard Act, English Teacher, KEG and DITZ, Pop Vulture have released a string of well-received singles, followed by a cassette tape consisting of all their work so far, and a few tape exclusives. This limited run of 50 tapes sold out in 2 days after an in-store launch at the Vinyl Whistle.

They have received support from BBC Music, in the form of plays from Steve Lamacq on Radio 6 Music, Emily Pilbeam and Jericho Keys on BBC Introducing, and a packed-out show on the BBC Introducing stage at Live at Leeds this year.

Pop Vulture have also garnered attention from overseas. This has included coverage from Spanish blog 'Retratando Voces' who drew comparisons to Viagra Boys, Girl Band and The Cool Greenhouse, and a Dutch playlister called 'Opposite Marco' who has included Pop Vulture in multiple playlists, garnering them a small following in the Netherlands.
