Bad Sounds, brothers Ewan and Callum Merrett started on different musical paths before the band was born, Ewan was keen on making hip-hop beats and playing with samples, Callum was more engrossed in the soul, pop and R’n’B of Michael Jackson, Marvin Gaye and Curtis Mayfield.
They started making music separately but it was only when they saw the 2010 film Scott Pilgrim Vs The World and heard the soundtrack by Beck, that they got serious about playing in a band together. The combination of Ewan and Callum’s differing styles coming together create the colorful and unique world that is Bad Sounds.
Bad Sound’s EP ‘PHRESSH’, is a small, but perfectly formed round-up of their singles to-date including track ‘Zacharia’. The EP features previous singles ‘I Feel, ‘Avalanche’ (Annie Mac’s Tune of the Week), ‘Wages’ (Annie Mac’s Hottest Record and Radio 1 BBC Introducing playlist) and ‘Meat on My Bones’ (MistaJam’s Hottest Record). The band has already had a large NME feature and gained support from The Guardian, The Independent, The Metro, Notion and Evening Standard amongst others.
