Lucy Rose releases debut album 'Like I Used To'

Described as “one of the country’s most promising new voices” (Sunday Times) and “a real star” (Daily Mirror), Lucy Rose releases her debut album ‘Like I Used To’ today.

Lucy Rose has already built up a huge online fan base with her “dark-hearted pop songs that strive for the epic” (Q Magazine). She  began her music career when she packed her bags, left her home in Warwickshire and headed for London armed with an acoustic guitar and bags of determination. Countless gigs at open mic nights led to several appearances as a vocalist with Bombay Bicycle Club. As she posted her own songs and videos up online, she quickly became “a grassroots, word of mouth success story” (Clash Music).

In keeping with her DIY ethic, ‘Like I Used To’ was recorded at her parents' house and her local village hall, with the help of bandmate and producer Charlie Hugal, who has also produced for Florence + The Machine. Highlights from the album include the unconventionally structured, tempo-hopping ‘Lines’, with its complex time signatures and roaring choruses; the slide guitars and Sufjan-esque harmonies of ‘Shiver’; the brooding, atmospheric ‘Place’, the powerful, urgent drumming of ‘Red Face’ and most recent single, the beautifully melodic ‘Bikes’.

Lucy Rose ‘Like I Used To’ is released Monday 26th September 2012.
