The new Netflix film My Oxford Year is out now, featuring an opening track written by UMPG songwriters Laura Welsh and Jimmy James at UMPG’s SCREENWRK x Nothing Standard writing retreat in Deià earlier this year. 

During the retreat a live brief came in, and Laura and Jimmy wrote ‘Make It Happen’ in one day, with the track then mastered by UPM’s Felipe Arevalo. 

Jimmy James said: “We knew that we wanted it to sound dreamy but uplifting, and the inspiration from the references but also the location definitely played a big part in the writing process that day.” 

My Oxford Year stars Sofia Carson and Corey Mylchreest, and follows the story of an ambitious young American woman who sets out for Oxford University to fulfil a childhood dream - only to meet a charming and clever local who profoundly alters both of their lives.
