The dramatic finale to HBO’s acclaimed White Lotus series finished with one of the standout tracks from Billy Preston’s catalog - “Nothing From Nothing” (written by Billy Preston and Bruce Carleton Fisher).
The joyful nature of the song lifts the mood after the episode's dramatic events, whilst the lyrics - “Nothin' from nothin' leaves nothin' / You gotta have somethin' if you wanna be with me” – could be interpreted as a wry nod to the importance of wealth to many of the show's characters.
The song entered the Billboard charts after the finale aired, hitting No. 6 on the R&B Digital Song Sales chart, and landing at No. 15 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales ranking, plus streams of the song increased by nearly 370% on Spotify in the U.S.
"Nothing From Nothing" was from Billy Preston’s 1974 album The Kids & Me, and became his second solo chart-topping song in the United States.
