Universal Music Publishing Group today announced that global music icon and Top Dawg Entertainment recording artist SZA will be named as the first-ever “She Is The Music” honouree, recognising female songwriters for their contributions to music and impact on culture. UMPG Global Chairman and CEO Jody Gerson will present the award at Songs of Hope XIV, the event benefiting world-renowned independent cancer research and treatment centre City of Hope.

Universal Music Publishing Group today announced that songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Danny Shah has been signed to a global publishing deal.

Within the last 18 months, Shah has become one of the fastest-rising songwriters in the industry. He secured two UK Number 1 albums with The Vamps and cowrote five tracks on Kylie Minogue’s recent album ‘Golden.’ Shah also penned several songs for major artists including David Guetta, HRVY (Virgin), Loren Gray, Zak Abel, Oliver Heldens, Sigma, Sigala, Kaiser Chiefs and many more.

The 63rd Ivor Novello Awards honoured UMPG writers Shane MacGowan and Steve Mac. Shane MacGowan was presented with The Ivors Inspiration Award – in recognition of the power of his songwriting to inspire the creative talents of others. Steve Mac won the award for PRS For Music Most Performed Work, for co-writing Ed Sheeran's ‘Shape Of You'. 

Billboard has released it’s 2018 International Power Players list which includes Universal Music Publishing’s very own Mike McCormack and Jackie Alway.

Artists and writers signed to Universal Music Publishing have received 5 nominations for the 63rd Ivor Novello awards. Steve Mac, Benny Blanco, Dan Jones, Benjamin Wallfisch and Daughter have been nominated in a variety of categories. 

Universal Music Publishing Group was named Publisher of the Year at the 35th Annual ASCAP Pop Music Awards in Los Angeles. The company’s songwriters contributed to 22 of ASCAP’s Most Performed Pop Songs of 2017. Special honours were given to Steve Mac who was awarded Songwriter of the Year and Song of the Year for “Shape Of You.” Justin Bieber’s “Despacito” was awarded Most Streamed Song of the Year.

Keynvor is a new project from Mercury KX in collaboration with artist Sebastian Plano. The Keynvor campaign, which comes in association with Havas London and Sharp’s Brewery Atlantic Pale Ale, will be funding its own Ocean conservation through the release of a new single ‘Preservation’.
