Since 2006, the Reeperbahn Festival has been one of the most important platforms for the music industry worldwide. Always in focus: Discovering new music and up-and-coming artists.
In 2016 the Reeperbahn Festival is launching the very first ANCHOR Award, an accolade for the best emerging talent, a new standard for the international music scene. A prize, designed to become an international quality label, a guide for fans and the music industry in search of the best new music from around the world and a jump start for the competitors' international careers. Over three days, eight nominees compete in front of the festival audience and an eclectic jury of music luminaries in the Reeperbahn’s infamous clubs, united by one goal: Perform the best gig, enchant the audience, convince the jury and in the end – take home this year’s ANCHOR Award.

It was 10 years since they released music together and wrote Swedish hip-hop history as the successful duo Snook. Yesterday they were reunited and released 'Sitter på en dröm' but under their names Daniel Adams-Ray & Oskar Linnros.

This year’s MOBO nominations have been announced, with several UMPG artists and writers in the running for an award including Laura Mvula, Craig David, Wretch 32, Chase & Status, M.O and writer Kassa Alexander.  Laura Mvula is one of the most nominated artists, up for four awards: Best Female, Best Album for ‘The Dreaming Room’, Best R&B/Soul Act and Best Video for ‘Phenomenal Woman’. 

On his 67th birthday, Friday September 23rd, Bruce Springsteen releases his new album 'Chapter and Verse'. The career-spanning compilation will be released four days before Simon & Schuster publishes the autobiography 'Born to Run'. Five of the album's 18 tracks have never been previously released. 
The same day as the release of the album he will also be guesting the biggest Swedish/Norwegian talkshow 'Skavlan'.

Tom Waits and Kathleen Brennan have been honoured with the prestigious PEN Song Lyrics Award. The award is bestowed biennially by the writers' group PEN New England – with the aim of recognising excellence in the use of language in songwriting. This year's honorees were chosen by a committee that included U2's Bono, Elvis Costello and Salman Rushdie.
