Nechie

Hailing from the Southside of Atlanta, NECHIE is the latest rapper to rise up from the underground and represent his hometown on the national stage. In recent years, the College Park native has landed features with artists like Gunna and appeared on Young Thug’s acclaimed Slime Language compilation. Growing up on Southern-rap legends like the Hot Boy$, Master P, and Three 6 Mafia, Nechie first started rapping as a kid, he then began selling his CDs in the neighborhood and soon made his name in the local rap scene. A family friend, Unk Troup, introduced him to Young Thug, and the two struck up a close creative partnership. As he sharpened his craft and refined his vision, Nechie also changed up his artistic approach. Choosing to write and record in the moment as opposed to going back to re-record. After signing to Young Thug’s YSL Records in 2016, Nechie continued working on his own music, in addition to appearing on his childhood friend Gunna’s widely celebrated Drip Season mixtape series. Following the release of Slime Language - which featured Nechie on a standout track called “Slimed In” - he quickly drew the attention of major labels, eventually signing with Interscope in late 2018. Nechie made his label debut with SSN:Southside Nechie (The Full Story) - a project that defies all boundaries and shows the soulful depth of his storytelling.
