After independently releasing three EPs, touring extensively and earning a grass roots following, in early 2012 the band made their major label debut with the release of their ‘Continued Silence EP’. The EP included the breakthrough single ‘It’s Time’ an anthemic foot-stomping track that perfectly encapsulates the band’s unvarnished emotional sound.
With the groundswell of energy "It’s Time" generated, IMAGINE DRAGONS began preparing for the release of their full-length debut ‘Night Visions’ on Grammy award winning producer Alex Da Kid’s label, KIDinaKORNER.
The balance between riding steady and risking it all is the core tension at the heart of Imagine Dragons’ sound and their identity and it’s a reflection of the city they call home. “Our band wouldn’t exist without Las Vegas” Reynolds says simply. “As a new band you play the casinos... You learn to stand out because you’re competing for the attention of people sitting at slot machines. You have to bring everything you have and learn what grabs people’s attention enough that they look up from the card table and say, hey, let’s check this out!”
Imagine Dragons’ debut album ‘Night Visions’ peaked at No.2 on the Billboard 200 Chart with the first week of sales, which made it the highest charting debut rock album since 2006.
'Night Visions' second single "Radioactive" reached No.1 on the Billboard Alternative Songs and sold more than seven million singles in the United States. It became the most streamed song on Spotify in 2013 in the US. The album was nominated for Record of the Year and Best Rock Performance at the annual Grammy Awards, and the band went on to win Best Rock Performance.
Imagine Dragons recorded their second album ‘Smoke + Mirrors’ during 2014 at the band’s studio. It was self-produced along with Alex Da Kid and was released on Interscope Records and KIDinaKORNER in the U.S.
The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 charts in the United States, selling over 172,000 copies. It additionally debuted at No. 1 on the UK Album Charts. They have since released official singles from the album "I Bet My Life," "Gold," and "Shots."
