Doechii

In the first half of 2023 alone, Doechii was named the RISING STAR in Billboard Women in Music (previous winners Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj, Ariana Grande etc.), performed the main stage at Coachella, is the second lead in the A24 film Earth Mama (100% rotten tomatoes), and is nominated for both Best New Artist at this year’s BET Awards and as Outstanding Breakthrough Music Artist at the GLAAD Media Awards. Her new single, “What It Is (Block Boy)” went viral on TikTok and currently tops Apple music charts. The track samples “Some Cut” and “No Scrubs.” and enabled her to make her Billboard Hot 100 debut, peaking at No. 75 while also peaking at No. 11 on the Global Shazam Chart.

Doechii’s meteoric rise as one of the hottest and most talented new artists is a testament to the depth of her sound and the deliberate ability to put all of herself into everything. With her 2022 EP she / her / black bitch the Tampa native cements herself as a distinct voice whose versatile talents range from quick-fire bars to seductive singing. On the EP, the self-proclaimed ‘swamp princess’ outlines different layers of her life experience, and, as NPR stated, “sleep on Doechii at your own risk.”

In 2022, Doechii received nominations for an MTV Video Music Award and two Soul Train Music Awards. She won Best Choreography in a Video at the UK Music Video Awards for her single “Crazy.” The show also nominated the video for Best Cinematography in a Video and Best Hip Hop/Grime/Rap Video- International. She walked the runway for Vogue at fashion week. In addition, Doechii was nabbed as the RADAR US Cover Artist at Spotify, the VEVO DSCVR Artist for June, the BET Artist of the Month for June, named a Billboard Queer Game-Changer for Pride, and MTV’s Push Artist. Rolling Stone and The LA Times named “Persuasive” as one of the ‘Best Songs Of 2022’ while Complex listed “Crazy” as one of the ‘Best Songs of 2022’ and NPR picked her as an artist to watch. She also made Barack Obama’s yearly playlist, as well as yearend ‘best of’ lists from nearly every national publication, also as the cover star of the LA Times’ Fall Music Preview.

Doechii started receiving recognition from fans, critics, and record labels after the release of her self-funded and released EP, Oh the Places You’ll Go. “Yucky Blucky Fruitcake” would be the biggest hit of the EP, going viral on TikTok in 2021. In March 2022, the artist signed deals with Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE) and Capitol Records. This gave Doechii the bragging rights of being the very first female rapper to sign with TDE.

Doechii comes in swinging – and she is about to hit her prime and never leave.
