DJ Swish (born Samuel Ahana) burst onto the production scene after providing the unforgettable beat for YG’s anthem “FDT”. Swish followed up with six credits on YG’s critically acclaimed Still Brazy LP, including the title track and two tracks off of YG’s latest offering "4 Real 4 Real." Swish has also produced on recent projects including Post Malone’s "Beerbongs & Bentleys," G-Eazy’s "The Beautiful and Damned," Jay Rock’s "Redemption," Macklemore’s "Gemini" and Kiana Lede’s "Myself."
Swish emerged from the South Bay neighborhoods of Los Angeles where he grew up immersed in multi-cultural influences. “I grew up around every race, so I understand different people which helps me to understand music,” he says. When his mother observed him playing “Happy Birthday” on a toy xylophone at age two, she took note of his musical inclinations. But piano lessons were not his favorite pastime. “I used to cry because I didn’t want to do it,” he remembers, “but I’m glad I stuck with it.”
Now signed to Universal Music, DJ Swish boasts a packed schedule of co-writes and studio projects. Humble, grateful and authentic, Swish is the local guy from the neighborhood whose music has clearly struck a chord with the masses, and a true artist whose compositions soar above a sea of so-called 'beatmakers'.
