Annie Lennox has been honoured with the prestigious Music Industry Trusts Award, in recognition of her outstanding contribution to British Music and her charity work. Receiving the award, Annie said: “I'm incredibly touched and honoured to be considered as a recipient of the 22nd Music Industry Trusts Award. Music has given me a lifetime of experiences and opportunities that I never would have dreamed possible, and I feel very privileged to have been able to become an artist and communicator, especially as a woman.”
Universal Music Publishing has signed a global publishing agreement with INXS members Andrew Farriss (keyboards and guitar), Jon Farriss (drums), Kirk Pengilly (guitar, saxophone), Tim Farriss (guitar) and Garry Gary Beers(bass), bringing the band’s core catalogue under one roof for the first time. The company also publishes the rights of the group's late lead singer Michael Hutchence for songs written on the band's first four albums.
James Blake last night won the Mercury Music Prize 2013 for his superb second album ‘Overgrown’. He collected the £20,000 prize and the coveted winner’s trophy at The Roundhouse, where the awards were held. The judges described his album as “late night music for the digital age. An inventive, poignant and poetic record of great beauty”.
‘Elvis Costello: Mystery Dance’ is the first-ever documentary portrait of one of the greatest musicians and songwriters of our time. Directed by award winning documentary maker Mark Kidel, the hour long version will be shown on BBC4 Friday 8th November at 9pm, with the feature-length version on Saturday 9th November at 11.50pm.
