Jay Chou (周杰倫), Taiwanese singer-songwriter, record producer, actor, director, and one of the most influential figures in Mandopop history.
Widely regarded as the "King of Mandopop," "King of Asia," and "King of R&B," as well as the most influential Chinese music artist of the 21st century, Time Magazine has described him as the "New King of Asian Pop."
Since his 2000 debut, his signature style has seamlessly blended Pop, R&B, Rock, Hip-Hop, Latin soul, and Chinese musical elements, captivating audiences worldwide and making every album release highly anticipated by Asian youth generations.
He achieved consecutive top-selling records for 12 years and has earned widespread recognition from music awards around the globe.
Jay Chou has released 15 studio albums, with standout works including Jay Chou’s Bedtime Stories (2016) and Greatest Works of Art (2022), the latter claiming the number-one spot on the IFPI 2022 Global Album Sales Chart as the world’s best-selling album in pure sales that year.
He has won 15 Golden Melody Awards from 49 nominations, cementing his status as one of the most awarded Mandopop artists ever.
His dominance extends far beyond music charts; in China, he remains the undisputed Mandopop King, consistently topping streaming platforms, selling out massive stadiums, and creating chart-topping frenzies.
A striking example of his ongoing influence came in July 2024, when he occupied all ten spots in the top 10 of Apple Music’s China charts and claimed 41 of the top 100 positions. His cultural impact has also drawn significant international attention, including features and interviews with major outlets such as Time Magazine and CNN.

A historic milestone occurred during the Carnival tour when he became the first artist to stage concerts at the newly constructed Taipei Dome in December 2024, with four shows that generated overwhelming demand—over 890,000 users queued for tickets.
Beyond music, Jay Chou has made significant contributions to film.
He was the first Mandopop artist to direct his own music videos and has since helmed nearly all of his own MVs while also directing for other artists.

His other acting roles have largely been in blockbuster films, earning praise from prominent directors who view him as a highly promising talent.
