Universal Music Publishing Scandinavia proudly presents the musical 'Livet är en schlager'.
It is based on Jonas Gardells movie with the same name but with a new manuscript and with music by UMP signed Fredrik Kempe. The musical has its premier September 11th 2014 at Cirkus in Stockholm. The tickets are released November 19th 2013.
'Livet är en schlager' is the history about Mona and her husband Bosse, her brother Candy Darling and the guy she is working for, David.
Four people as ordinary as they can be.
Apart from the fact that Candy is transsexual, David has Cerebral palsy and Mona and Bosse is so crazy about Schlager that they named their four daughters Kicki, Carola, Lena Ph and Anna Book.
But aside from that they live their life with dreams that they have to fit in between leaving and picking up their children at daycare while the days pass, turn into weeks and years. Up to the point when Mona overhears a song that David has written and in secret sends it to Melodifestivelen – and she gets chosen to participate in the big finale.
Overnight she becomes the new star, loved, mentioned in the news and talked about. There’s really only one problem.
She hasn’t told them that she didn’t write the song and if that comes out she risks losing all she has received.
'Livet är en schlager' is the story about a human that is about to win the whole world but at the same time lose her soul. It’s a terribly funny, touching and bewildering story about solidarity, about longing to be something more than just what the eye can see.
