(1943-1999)
Musician, singer, composer, arranger, lyricist, actor, TV presenter, host, collector, painter, traveler... One of the founding members of the Anatolian Rock genre, Barış Manço has been a cornerstone of the Turkish art world, giving countless concerts in Türkiye and many foreign countries with his band "Kurtalan Ekspres". His more than 200 songs earned him 12 gold and 1 platinum album awards, and some of these songs were later translated into Greek, Bulgarian, Arabic, Persian, Kurdish, Japanese, Hebrew, French, and Dutch, and performed by himself and/or other artists. Launched in October 1988 on TRT 1 as an educational, cultural, and entertainment program for children and families, “7’den 77’ye” (From 7 to 77) set an unprecedented record in Turkish television broadcasting. It became the longest-running and most successful television show in Türkiye. Having completed his education at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Belgium and speaking fluent English and French, Barış Manço received over 3000 awards and various titles throughout his artistic career.
