UMPG songwriters honoured at 2024 Ivor Novello Awards

UMPG songwriters Bernie Taupin, Lana Del Rey and Eg White, and composers Stephen Barton & Gordy Haab (Disney) were all honoured at the 2024 Ivor Novello Awards, with Amazon Music.
 
The annual celebration of the craft and achievements of songwriters and composers was held at Grosvenor House, London, on 23rd May. 

Bernie Taupin was bestowed the prestigious honour of Outstanding Contribution to British Music. Best known for his musical partnership with Elton John that has stretched over half a century, their timeless catalogue of hits includes 'Rocketman,' 'Bennie and the Jets,' 'I’m Still Standing’ and 'Your Song.’ It is the ninth time Bernie Taupin has won an Ivor Novello Award, and 50 years since his first win with Elton John in 1974 for ‘Daniel’. 

Lana Del Rey received the Special International Award, in celebration of her career and influence. Presenting her with the award, Jody Gerson, UMPG Chairman & CEO said: “Lana is a true original who would be a brilliant artist in any era. She is iconic. She is influential. Her career transcends genres and her songs and music will stand the test of time.”

Eg White was awarded Best Song Musically and Lyrically for ‘Black Swan’ with Victoria Canal. Claire Walters / A&R Creative Manager UMPG UK, said: “Huge congratulations to Eg White on his award for his contribution to ‘Black Swan’ by Victoria Canal. So deserved and I’m absolutely delighted for him”

The Award for Best Original Video Game Score went to Stephen Barton & Gordy Haab (Disney) for their soundtrack to Star Wards Jedi Survivor. 

Other UMPG songwriters who received nominations were Fred Again.. and Brian Eno (nominated for Best Contemporary Song for ‘Enough’);  Ines Dunn (nominated for Best Contemporary Song for Mette – Mama’s Eyes); Harry Styes and Kid Harpoon (nominated for PRS for Most Performed Work for ‘As It Was’) and Ice Spice (nominated for PRS for Most Performed Work for ‘Boy’s A Liar Pt. 2’, with Pink Pantheress).
