UMPG signs 'Vossi Bop' writer, Chris Andoh

UMPG today announced that sought-after songwriter and ‘Vossi Bop’ co-writer Chris Andoh has signed a global publishing deal.

2019 has already seen Chris Andoh co-write and produce one of the biggest tracks of the year – Stormzy’s ‘Vossi Bop’ – but he’s actually been tirelessly grinding away behind the scenes for over ten years. His dedication and patience has paid off, and he’s fast become one of the most in demand songwriters and producers in the UK.

Speaking of the signing, UMPG MD Mike McCormack said: “Obviously the success of 'Vossi Bop' has been a huge result for Chris and his management team, but it has come after years of hard work and determination to breakthrough as a writer/producer. Chris is a fantastic, modest guy with a real talent, so we are thrilled that he and his management team of Sandy, Ged and Simon have chosen UMPG as their publishing partner.”

Growing up in Harrow (North London), Chris was introduced to FL Studio in secondary school and from there the love of music production began. He started off making grime but gradually expanded his sound to incorporate pop, rap, trap and RnB – a combination which feels like Chris at his best. Cuts for TE dness, Nines and BIA helped spread the word of Chris’ sound, before a video uploaded to his Snapchat in 2016 lead to Stormzy asking for the beat that would come to be known by the world as ‘Vossi Bop’ – their first ever #1 single. ‘Vossi Bop’ spent two weeks at #1 and quickly went Platinum, setting Chris up to go on to work with the very best UK and international talent.

We’re hugely excited to be working with Chris and can’t wait to be a part of his future ventures.
