Introducing - Lucy Rose

Universal Music Publishing Group is delighted to welcome the hugely talented Lucy Rose to the UMPG family.

The young singer-songwriter from Warwickshire moved to London aged 18 armed with an acoustic guitar and bags of steely determination. Numerous open mic sessions paid off, and she caught the attention of Bombay Bicycle Club, who asked her to do backing vocals on various tracks on their album ‘Flaws’; Jack Steadman from Bombay Bicycle club in turn remixed one of her songs.

A buzz started forming online, with her YouTube videos notching up 1.5 million views to date. Soon BBC Radio 1’s Edith Bowman was declaring Lucy Rose “absolutely outstanding”,  Vogue Magazine tipped her as “one of indie music’s breakout stars for 2012”, and Q Magazine said her voice “could melt the stoniest of hearts.”

Lucy describes the sound she aims to create with her music as, “happy and sad at the same time.... Both those emotions at once – that's the killer. My favourite songs are the ones that do that, so maybe it's sort of rubbed off."

Since August last year she has released two EPs: ‘Middle of the Bed’ and ‘Scar’, followed by the single ‘Red Face’. Her fourth release ‘Lines’ is released Monday 23rd July – with her hotly anticipated debut album ‘Like I Used To’ due out in September.
