Ludwig Göransson and 'KPop Demon Hunters' songwriters honored at 98th Academy Awards

The 98th Academy Awards took place on 15th March 2026 at the Dolby Theatre, Ovation Hollywood, with two wins for UMPG composers and songwriters. 

Ludwig Göransson (Warner Bros) took home the Oscar for Best Original Score for Sinners. The film was nominated for 16 Academy Awards this year, breaking the record for most nominations for a single movie.

Best Original Song went to "Golden" from KPop Demon Hunters – making history as the first K-Pop song to win an Oscar. “Golden” was written by Joong Gyu Kwak, Hee Dong Nam, Yoo Han Lee, Jeong Hun Seo (via THEBLACK LABEL and YG) plus Teddy Park  (via UMPG Korea). The singers behind the fictional group HUNTR/X also took to the stage to perform “Golden” at the awards ceremony.
