The Cocteau Twins created a distinctly unique, ethereal and gossamer sound, and the definitive line up of Elizabeth Fraser, Robin Guthrie and Simon Raymonde released a string of classic albums including 'Treasure', 'Victorialand', 'Blue Bell Knoll' and 'Heaven and Las Vegas'.

In 2008 the band received the Q Inspiration Award and in 2012 their influence can be heard more than ever; from Anthony & the Johnsons, Warpaint, Beach House, Animal Collective, The xx, Bat For Lashes, Sigur Ros and Lykke Li to Robert Plant, Madonna, Feist and Prince.

Post-punk developed out of the punk movement of the mid 1970’s, taking the sound in a more complex, experimental direction and absorbing a broader range of influences. This playlist celebrates some of the key post-punk artists from Universal Music Publishing Group’s catalogue including Cocteau Twins, Joy Division, Talking Heads, The Cure, The Specials and Tubeway Army.

The BBC’s recent 'Punk Britannia' series included some excellent TV and radio programmes featuring punk artists from Universal Music Publishing Group’s catalogue, including a series of shows dedicated to the legendary exploits of Sex Pistols, alongside features on The Clash, The Stranglers, The Undertones, Generation X and more.

Elton John's limited edition box set ‘Classic Album Selection (1970 – 73)’ comprises of five classic albums: ‘Elton John’, ‘Tumbleweed Connection’, ‘Madman Across The Water’, ‘Honky Chateau’ and ‘Don’t Shoot Me I’m Only The Piano Player’. These albums provided the backbone of Elton’s early career and were the source of a series of breakthrough hits which would propel him to become one of the most successful British artists of all time.

A prolific music and lyric writer of the highest order, Irving Berlin's work is truly inspirational. He penned scores to more than a dozen Broadway musicals, including 'Annie Get Your Gun', plus dozens of Hollywood movie musicals. With over 1,200 songs to his name, classics include 'White Christmas', 'Puttin' on the Ritz', 'Easter Parade' 'Always', 'Blue Skies', and 'There's no Business Like Show Business'.
