Paddington is 'Born To Be Wild'

The iconic ‘Born To Be Wild’ by UMPG’s Steppenwolf takes centre stage in 2014’s hit Christmas movie Paddington, offering a perfect soundtrack to the madcap adventures of the world’s favourite marmalade obsessed bear.

Abandoning darkest Peru after an earthquake, our eponymous hero arrives in London where he proceeds to wreak adorable havoc in the home of the Brown family. It’s not long however before Paddington catches the attention of trigger-happy taxidermist Millicent who sets about seducing the Brown’s creepy neighbour into helping her steal and stuff the new arrival.

Originally written as a ballad by Steppenwolf’s Mars Bonfire (aka Dennis Edmonton), a speeded up, energised version released in 1967 became the band’s biggest hit.  The song has been used in several films and TV shows usually to denote rebellion and counter culture so a great choice to accompany Paddington’s wild adventures!
