Film, TV & Media

Universal Music Publishing’s Film & TV Department creates opportunities for and licenses our catalogue of songs to film, television, advertising, computer games and stage productions: what is often referred to as ‘synchronisation’. We work closely with each writer to support their creative endeavours and both promote and protect their music at every stage of their career. The UK office has a 12 strong Film & TV team working alongside similar specialist departments in our offices around the world. Covering everything from a song’s first play on UK TV to a major US hit series or scoring original film music, we always treat every use of our artists’ music with equal importance.

Imagine Dragons in 'Me and Earl and the Dying Girl' trailer

'Me and Earl and the Dying Girl' is the story of perennial layabout Greg Gaines (Thomas Mann), who wiles away his time making lo-fi parodies of art-house films with his best friend Earl (Ronald Cyler II). This is until Greg’s overbearing mother (Connie Britton) forces him to visit his terminally ill classmate Rachel (Olivia Cooke), a girl he barely knows. They hit it off as Greg’s monotone humour keeps her entertained.

805 Million Names

On February 14, together with the World Food Programme, UMPG's Swedish office helped Zlatan Ibrahimović play his most important game to date.

Underneath his sweater he had 50 new names tattooed. Names of people he’d never met, but still wanted to keep close. Names of some of the 805 million people suffering from hunger today.

These people don’t often make the front page, yet hunger and malnutrition are the number one risk to health worldwide — greater than AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis combined.

This is a campaign from the World Food Programme, the world's largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide. WFP reaches more than 80 million people with food assistance in 75 countries each year.
