“You know when you hear a song and it takes you back to a memory? That’s what I want. I want to give people moments to remember.” It’s evident that Natalie Hemby is doing just that – making a mark through her music that has a style and intensity that is uniquely hers.
Raised in Nashville, Tennessee, Hemby signed her first publishing deal in 1997 and has since written songs recorded by artists Kelly Clarkson, Maren Morris, Sheryl Crow, Miranda Lambert, Kacey Musgraves, Dierks Bentley, Eli Young Band, Lady Antebellum, Chris Isaak, Blake Shelton, Little Big Town, Lee Ann Womack, Johnnyswim, and more. Hemby has garnered six No. 1 country singles – Lady Antebellum’s “Downtown,” Little Big Town’s “Pontoon” and “Tornado,” Miranda Lambert’s “White Liar” and “Automatic” and Justin Moore’s “You Look Like I Need A Drink.” Among her impressive discography is co-writing hits such as Miranda Lambert’s “Baggage Claim” (#3 Billboard single), “Only Prettier” (#12 Billboard single), Kelly Clarkson’s “Don’t Rush” feat. Vince Gill (#27 Billboard single), and “A Little More Love” (Jerrod Niemann and Lee Brice) (#28 Billboard).
Hemby is a driving force among songwriters and artists alike. She penned seven songs on Miranda Lambert’s Platinum release and most recently co-wrote 10 songs off Lambert’s anticipated new album, The Weight of These Wings. Hemby received international chart success after penning the Labrinth hit, “Jealous,” which Adele noted to Entertainment Weekly was the song she listened to when she needed to cry on cue for her “Hello” music video.
In 2015, Hemby debuted her documentary (which she co-produced and co-wrote the songs featured) – PUXICO. The documentary is based on her grandfather’s hometown and their legendary homecoming event and the music from the album was released in January 2017. “PUXICO”, Hemby’s first released record, received rave reviews from The Wall Street Journal, No Depression Magazine, PopMatters, and Rolling Stone. In August 2017, she opened for Faith Hill and Tim McGraw on their SOUL II SOUL tour, and opened for Amy Grant and Vince Gill for 10 Nights at the Ryman Theatre for their Christmas Show. This summer, she plans to hit the road, opening for her friends, Miranda Lambert and Little Big Town, on the Bandwagon Tour.
