BaianaSystem is a Brazilian musical project formed in 2009 in Salvador by Roberto Barreto, Russo Passapusso, Seko Bass and Filipe Cartaxo, blending the traditional guitarra baiana with Jamaican sound system culture to create a unique sound that moves between reggae, samba-reggae, afrobeat, and electronic music. The group gained major recognition with the album O Futuro Não Demora, which won the Latin Grammy in 2019, and with O Mundo Dá Voltas (2005), a project that deepens their identity by exploring Afro-Brazilian rhythms, sonic experimentation, and themes of movement, transformation, and social issues. Known for their high-energy performances and socially engaged lyrics, BaianaSystem stands out as one of the most innovative acts in contemporary Brazilian music.
