In 2005 he was awarded a Golden Globe for the song 'A Love That Will Never Grow Old' from the Academy Award winning movie Brokeback Mountain - co-written with Oscar winning composer Gustavo Santillavo.

When he is not storytelling in song Bernie can be found in his art studio, creating mixed media contemporary art on canvas.

Most recently, in addition to several art exhibits in the US, Bernie celebrated the 40th Anniversary of 'Goodbye Yellow Brick Road', reissuing this seminal album as a special 2 disc edition.
