Universal Music Publishing Australia is thrilled to welcome Sons of the East; Nic Johnston, Daniel Wallage and Jack Rollins, to the UMPG family through a Global Publishing deal. The announcement was made this week by President of Universal Music Publishing Asia Pacific/ANZ Andrew Jenkins and Vice President Creative Arwen Curson.
In making the announcement, Curson expressed her eagerness to work with such an exciting project; “I love, love LOVE these guys. I’ve been subconsciously humming their tunes since the first play. Such incredible, timeless songs that I’m certain will be sung by festival crowds the world over. I’m tickled pink to have Jack, Nic and Dan join the UMPG family. Bloody marvellous!”
Sons of the East's distinctive sound is a motley acoustic-electric mix driven by soulful vocals, resulting in modern alternative folk that draws on everything from Neil Young and Johnny Cash to Fleetwood Mac and The Kinks but somehow winds up feeling just like home. Intimate, soulful and cinematic, Sons of the East have the unique knack for implanting their melodies deep into your mind for days on end.
Equally elated, the Northern Beaches boys stated that they are "over the moon like a helium balloon to be working with Universal Publishing Australia. The entire team has been so enthusiastic from the beginning and we can’t wait to get stuck in with them!”
Timing couldn't have been any more fitting, with the Sons' releasing their forthcoming single titled 'Lost Cause'. Whilst it's not due for release until the end of this week (Friday 16th September), you can treat yourself to the accompanying video clip below. Both compelling and amusing, the clip is a visual and auditory delight that displays the talent and showmanship that these boys possess.
Sons of the East join a thriving UMP Australia roster that includes Gang of Youths, Vera Blue, M-Phazes, JOY., The Veronicas, Thief, Guy Sebastian, Elizabeth Rose, Jessica Mauboy, Bag Raiders, I Know Leopard, Horrorshow, The Potbelleez, One Above, KLP, Andrew Stockdale, Jackie Onassis, Spit Syndicate, Jonti and many more.
