Celebrating Britpop anthems

To celebrate 20 years since Britpop stormed the charts, we’ve put together two Britpop themed playlists celebrating the best UMPG published artists and writers across the genre. Britpop – Male Vocal features classic tracks from Pulp, Oasis, The Divine Comedy, Mansun and more, whilst Britpop – Female Vocal includes seminal bands such as Elastica, Echobelly, Kenickie and Saint Etienne.

Elsewhere, the UK’s music media have been exploring Britpop’s musical heritage with a series of programs and features, including BBC6 Music, who asked listeners to vote for their favourite Britpop anthem. Pulp’s ‘Disco 2000’ came out on top – with songs by various other Universal Music Publishing artists appearing on the list, including: Ash - ‘Girl From Mars’; Ocean Colour Scene - ‘The Riverboat Song’; Mansun - ‘Wide Open Space’; Longpigs - ‘She Said’; Shed Seven - ‘Going For Gold’; Paul Weller - ‘The Changingman’; Dodgy - ‘Staying Out For The Summer’; Echobelly - ‘Great Things’; Salad – ‘Drink The Elixir’; Menswear – ‘Daydreamer’; and Powder – ‘Afrodisiac’.
