Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG) announced today the signing of multi-GRAMMY award winner, Academy Award winner, multi-platinum artist/songwriter/producer, Eminem, to an exclusive, worldwide publishing agreement. The deal includes Relapse, Eminem’s sixth studio album set to be released on May 19, 2009. The debut single, "Crack a Bottle," rocketed from No. 78 to No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100 setting a new record. It also topped 13 charts worldwide, including the Billboard Pop 100 and the UK R&B Chart. The hit features a collaboration with UMPG’s 50 Cent. Relapse is Eminem’s first studio album release since 2004’s Encore, features long time collaborator and producer, Dr. Dre, as well as UMPG writer Mark Batson on many of the tracks. The recently released single, "We Made You," became Eminem’s second top ten in a row on the Billboard Hot 100, debuting at No. 3 on the Hot Digital Songs.
Jason Castro The Texas-based tunesmith - best known as the third runner-up on the 2008 season of Fox's American Idol - parlayed his Idol success into a major-label deal with Atlantic Records, who signed the artist in April 2009 and will release his untitled debut album later this year. Castro is currently hard at work on his debut album, set for release later this year. BC Jean Universal Music Publishing Group has announced the signing of an exclusive world-wide publishing agreement with J Records recording artist and songwriter BC Jean. The company will publish BC Jean’s catalog and future works for the world. BC Jean is featured as a co-writer of Beyonce’s hit single, "If I Were a Boy," from the album, I Am...Sasha Fierce. The song topped 11 charts world-wide, peaking at No 1. on the UK Singles Chart, No. 1 on the European Hot 100 Singles chart, and No. 3 on the U.S. Hot 100 chart. The song was certified platinum after 12 weeks. Stereophonics UMPG has announced a long-term extension to its existing music publishing agreement with Stereophonics, which will see the company continuing to administer the bands catalogue and future compositions on a worldwide basis.
