Jack Knife was formed in 2009 in the bowels of a basement in Madrid. The band consists of Álvaro Alberdi – Berdick (drums), J. Parsons (lead guitar and backing vocals) and the Flores brothers, Carlos Flores (lead vocals and rhythm guitar) and Jose Miguel Flores (bass). The band’s name has it origin in the Beatles song ‘Hey Bulldog’, whose lyrics say: ‘…jack knife in your sweaty hands’.
After recording their self-titled demo, which consisted of 3 tracks: ’Stranded’, ’This Mother’ and ‘Be Yourself’ in 2010 - and having a great response from their fans -in March 2013, Jack Knife released their second demo, which consisted of 6 brand new songs and a new version of ‘Stranded’. Since they recorded their first demo, the band have been performing at several venues in their hometown and also in some of the most important Spanish festivals.
Later in 2013, Jack Knife recorded their first official EP ‘Listen to Jack Knife’, financed by the band’s fan community through a crowdfunding project at My Major Company. This EP was produced by Fernando Pardo (Sex Museum, Los Coronas) and was released on December 2013.
Jack Knife returns in 2015 with his new EP ‘Need To Breed’ recorded in Laviña-Púa Music studios in August 2014. The EP contains five tracks including an adaptation of the original hit ‘Al amanecer’ (Fresones Rebeldes) titled 'Rising up again'.
