Anitta is a Brazilian songwriter, artist, actress and businesswoman who began her career in the 2010s. Her self-titled debut album was released in 2014 containing 14 tracks co-written by her. The single ‘Show das Poderosas' earned her Multishow’s Brazilian Music Awards in the categories Earworm (“Música chiclete”) and Best Music Video. She was also voted Best New Singer by the Art Critics Association of São Paulo (APCA). She became a national phenomenon, with all her singles reaching #1 in radio in Brazil. Forbes Magazine compared Anitta to Shakira for her “World Music Appeal” and stated that the singer had a shot at becoming a global superstar.
Her second album, ‘Ritmo Perfeito’, was released July 2014. The single ‘Ritmo Perfeito’ was awarded Best Music at the 2015 Multishow Brazilian Music Awards, where she also won for Best Concert. In 2015, Anitta took home the MTV Europe Music Award for Best Latin Artist, the Young Brazilian Award for Best Singer and Domingão do Faustão’s 2015 Best of the Year Award also for Best Singer. She was the most-listened female artist on Spotify Brazil.
The year 2016 proved to be a banner year; she participated in Midem in Cannes and performed during the opening ceremony of the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro alongside Gilberto Gil and Caetano Veloso. On October 2016, she sang in a duet with Andrea Bocelli during the Italian tenor’s concert tour stops in São Paulo and Curitiba. She also released her third album, ‘Bang’ - the video for the title track surpassed 300 million views in YouTube, making Anitta the only Brazilian female singer to have achieved the milestone. The Bang tour was awarded ‘Best Concert’ in 2016 Multishow’s Music Awards. On the same occasion, Anitta won Best Music Award for ‘Blecaute,’ co-authored by Jota Quest.
Her many collaborations brought even more visibility to her already expressive work: “Sim Ou Não” with Maluma (and its Spanish version “Sí o No”), a version of “Ginza” with J Balvin, “Sua Cara” with Major Lazer and Pablo Vittar and “Switch” with Iggy Azalea; the latter was performed on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon which made Anitta the first Brazilian singer to participate on the TV show.
In 2017, her Spanish single “Paradinha” marked Anitta’s debut on the international music stage. In September she began project CheckMate, releasing one single and video each month until December. The tracks were in English, Spanish and Portuguese languages: “Will I See You” in collaboration with Poo Bear, “Is That For Me” with Swedish DJ Alesso, “Downtown” with J Balvin and the funk track “Vai Malandra” with MC Zaac, Maejor, Tropkillaz and DJ Yuri Martins. CheckMate was a success, with all songs hitting number one in Brazil. In addition, “Downtown” and “Vai Malandra” hit Spotify's Top 50 Global chart. In YouTube, “Vai Malandra” became the most viewed video in Brazil in 24 hours. Among her many collaborations and featured appearances in 2018 are “Machika” with J Balvin & Jeon, “Mala Mia (Remix) with Maluma & Becky G.
Anitta started 2019 with various collaborations, including “Terremoto” ft. Kevinho, “Bola Rebola” with Tropkillaz, J Balvin ft. MC Zaac, “Favela Chegou” with Ludmilla, “R.I.P.” by Sofia Reyes ft. Rita Ora and she’s featured in the soundtrack of the upcoming movie “Ugly Dolls.” Her fourth studio album “Kisses” was released April of 2019 and contains collaborations with Caetano Veloso, Alesso, Becky G, Chris Marsh and Prince Royce.
Anitta continues her success with a massive social media following. She has 12 million followers on her YouTube channel and her videos surpass 3.7 billion views. She's the first Brazilian female artist to be granted a Snapchat-verified profile. On Facebook, she has 13.4 million likes, on Twitter she has over 8.2 million followers. On Instagram, she has over 37 million followers, making her the most-followed Brazilian female artist.
