Lucy Sugerman releases her sophomore single 'Colour Blind', this comes after her previous 'I Wanna Kiss Boys Cos I'm Bored'
“I wrote this song with my friend Dylan Nash on the day of my 18th birthday. I was flicking through my songwriting book and piped up with a line I had written into a different song at home ‘…all these red flags, but I’m colour blind’. We took it, and ran with it, and the song flowed so seamlessly and was all written in about 1-2 hours.
...Songwriting is a way of unpacking emotions and why I do things - and writing ‘colour blind’ was a really frank and blunt exploration for me personally of why we tend to put people we love on pedestals, and fall into toxic behaviours. It’s a self depreciating and humorous dive into my inner monologue and views on my love life, capturing what I felt like was a big problem at the time (I laugh now. And it still occurs).”
Lucy has also been invited to participate in the 2021 Melbourne Songhubs this week, curated by Gretta Ray. This years Songhubs songwriting camp curation brings together selected women-identifying or non-binary intensive APRA AMCOS members and renowned international songwriters and producers to create new hits. Along with Gretta and Lucy, other participants include legendary producer Anna Laverty, and artists G Flip, KLP, Lisa Mitchell, Montaigne, Kat Edwards, Ninajirachi, Odette, Alex Lahey, Eilish Gilligan, Tulliah, Woodes + more!
