Woodes releases new single 'Queen Of The Night' off of her upcoming album 'Crystal Ball' out October 2nd.
"...I have always thought the Sandman, a fictional character that collects sand from your eyes as you dream is pretty wonderfully bizarre. I also really love desert super blooms. When I writing this song I had all of these purple and orange desert blooms on my desktop and I was singing at them, imagining being in a desolate barren wasteland, coming across a field of vivid colour. When I was in LA writing the last pieces of the album, there were super blooms happening just outside the city and people were flocking out to the fields. It felt like it all circled back to this...
...Chris (co-writer) & I met up again in my home studio in Melbourne & finished it up (and wrote a beautiful other song too!) when he was working on the bridge he told me that I’d made a world with no rules. I really liked that. We had so much fun adding to this song, it kept getting bigger and bigger. Remembering back I wrote it around when the #metoo movement was happening, and in this desert song, a woman breaks through a roof of glass returning as a giant phoenix.
To me it’s the powerful sister of my song called ‘Rise’ which was on my first EP, about a woman rising up, and then returning to the ocean. Anyway! It’s yours now. It’s one we can’t wait to play live..." Woodes reflects.
