Sydney singer songwriter Odette burst on to the scene last year with her stand-out debut single, ‘Watch Me Read You’. The song resonated strongly with its poetic, syncopated, spoken-word verses and landed at #56 on triple J’s 2017 Hottest 100.
Now, Universal Music Publishing Australia are pleased to present, To a Stranger, the debut album from Odette, released July 6th through EMI Music Australia and debuted on #13 on the ARIA Album Chart and is currently Triple J’s Feature Album of the week.
Produced by Grammy nominated Damian Taylor (Bjork, The Prodigy, The Killers, UNKLE & more); Odette caught the eye of the industry early on by showcasing her songwriting prowess to the likes of Charlie Hugall (Florence and the Machine, Ed Sheeran, Kaiser Chiefs), Jason Cox (Blur, Gorilliaz, Jamie T), Alex Hope (TroyeSivan, Broods), Sarah Aarons (Zedd, DuaLipa and vocalist on tracks with The Rubens & LDRU), Matt Hales (Aqualung, Lianne La Havas) and Paul Mac (The Dissociatives, Silverchair), who have all clamored to work with her over the past year and a half.
Featuring singles Collide, Watch Me Read You & Take It To The Heart; To a Stranger is an exquisite debut release and a sure sign of the incredible things to come from the Sydney local.
Odette also recently took on Gang Of Youth’s ‘Magnolia’ for her Triple J ‘Like A Version’, turning heads all around the country. Belting out her powerful yet ethereal signature vocals at the piano, she also recruited a string section and backing vocalists for the performance.
