Universal
Music Publishing Australia is thrilled to welcome the multi-talented singer,
songwriter and producer Maribelle to the UMPG family through a global
publishing deal. The announcement was made this week by Andrew Jenkins,
President of Universal Music Publishing AU/NZ and Arwen Curson, Vice President,
Creative.
Maribelle has proven herself to be a formidable talent in the world of
electronic pop. With her ‘Overtake’ EP making a bold statement on Triple J and
commercial radio, the twenty-one year old is also flexing her entrepreneurial
prowess as the head of Crush Club, a label dedicated to showcasing the new
class of electronic talent.
In making the announcement Curson said; “MARIBELLE
IS SO GOOD! As an artist she is fierce: Killer voice, the perfect amount of
sass and some pretty amazing moves to boot. As a writer she’s one of those
people you’d feel comfortable putting in the studio with anyone; she’s
versatile, fast and appears to have a never-ending ocean of hooks and ideas to
draw from. There is gifted, and then there’s Maribelle. Needless to say we are
thrilled to have her join the UMPG family.”
Maribelle has already aligned herself alongside some notable Australian
producers, including Carmada and Young Franco. From
the studio to the stage, Maribelle manages to find the time to work on her own
artist project whilst also building an extensive back catalogue of writing
credits. Notably, her debut EP ‘Overtake’ saw collaborations with producers
Djemba Djemba, Styalz Fuego and Nic Martin.
On joining the team, Maribelle commented;
"I'm so excited to be signing with UMPG. The team has been very inspiring
and supportive. I'm confident that we're going to write some great records
together."
2016 saw Maribelle support GoldLink and Kaytranada on their Australian tours, a
certain recognition of her hard work to date. Not one to settle, she
kick-started this year with a performance at FOMO Festival alongside Metro
Boomin, Desiigner, Peking Duk and Empire Of The Sun, as well as locking in a
support slot with Illy on his national ‘Two Degrees’ tour. 2017 is shaping up
to be a breakout year for Maribelle.
Maribelle joins a UMP Australia roster that includes Alex The Astronaut, Bag Raiders, Cosmo’s Midnight, Elizabeth Rose, Empire Of The Sun, Gang of Youths, Guy Sebastian, Holy Holy, Horrorshow, I Know Leopard, Jackie Onassis, Jessica Mauboy, Jonti, JOY., KLP, M-Phazes, Peking Duk, Sons Of The East, The Veronicas, Timmy Trumpet, Woodes and more.
