Multi-platinum, ARIA and APRA winning rapper 360 has returned with ‘Impossible’- the equally engaging and confronting first taste of his new album ‘Utopia’.
Atop a menacing and glitchy beat 360 raps with refreshingly raw honesty about his personal struggles with addiction and also an eye condition that has threatened to send the Melbourne MC blind.
"When we made that song I was at the peak of my loose partying days." Sixty says. “I rocked up to the studio and I hadn’t slept for three days. I was disgusting and gross. I slept in the studio for a few hours and then we made the song. I was an absolute mess. So I decided to write about that. Things have changed I’m not partying now. I’m sober.”
‘Impossible’ also heralds the return of one of Australia’s most successful musicians ex-Silverchair singer Daniel Johns as he adds an irresistible hook to the track.
"This began as a songwriting experiment for Matt's record", explains Daniel Johns. "Neither of us ever expected I'd end up singing on the song too but we both really liked the demo so eventually we thought - 'why not'? Hip hop is obviously more Matt's world than mine but we had a lot more in common than one would expect so it was a really interesting collaboration."
The highly conceptual video features both good and evil versions of 360 and Johns as they set fire to their personal demons but not without first setting fire to all manner of personal and private property.
‘Impossible’ was also co-produced and co-written by UMPG’s Dutch-born, Australian based and signed Louis Schoorl who is currently enjoying a golden international chart run.
‘Impossible’ feat. Daniel Johns is available to download via iTunes and look out for ‘Utopia’ which is set for release via Forthwrite Records/EMI later in 2014.
