One Day & UMPG Partnership

One Day & UMPG Partnership

Universal Music Publishing Australia today announced a music publishing partnership with respected Sydney based artist collective One Day. The deal means that UMPG will exclusively represent the publishing interests of Horrorshow, Jackie Onassis, Joyride and Spit Syndicate on a global basis.

“There is so much to be excited about with this deal. Horrorshow, Jackie Onassis, Spit Syndicate and Joyride are all incredibly special artists in their own right and I feel genuinely privileged that the entire One Day crew have chosen UMPG to represent their collective music publishing interests. With this deal we pick up a team of world-class beat-makers, hook-writers and story-tellers and we couldn’t be more pleased,” said Heath Johns, Director of A&R.

Horrorshow have recently made waves with their critically acclaimed third record King Amongst Many at #2 on the ARIA Albums chart. Comprising of vocalist Solo and producer Adit, Horrorshow are signed to iconic Australian hip hop label Elefant Traks and are uniquely positioned as one of Australia’s premier hip hop acts. After selling out multiple headline shows around the country and a number of memorable festival appearances, they are an undisputed live force. The ARIA nominated Horrorshow are currently on a 22 date national tour in support of King Amongst Many.

"We can't wait to start working with Heath and the team at Universal Music Publishing. Our third album King Amongst Many has been four years in the making and it's an exciting prospect to have their support in its rollout. Between Horrorshow, and the rest of our crew Spit Syndicate, Joyride, and Jackie Onassis; there's still a lot that we all want to explore with our music. A partnership between Universal Music Publishing and One Day is an affirmation of a strong shared vision and we're looking forward to what the future holds," said Adit Gauchan of Horrorshow.

Jackie Onassis are undoubtedly one of the most exciting new acts in Australia right now, comprising of beat-maker Raph Dixon and vocalist Kai Tan. Their debut single "Crystal Balling" and its follow-up "Smoke Trails" achieved high rotation on Triple J and the former also made an impact in the UK with support from BBC Radio One. Jackie Onassis are currently writing their much anticipated debut record amongst sold-out tours and have recently signed a record deal with Sony Music for the World ex. North America.

"We're really looking forward to working with such a prominent international team to build on the interest we've been getting across Europe and the US, as well as at home," said Raph Dixon of Jackie Onassis.

Sydney’s Joyride moonlights as a radio presenter on Sydney’s community station FBI and as one of Australia’s most in demand DJ’s but his evolution as a songwriter and artist proves that this is undoubtedly his most interesting endeavour. On his EP Chivalrous, Joyride displays a rare versatility as a songwriter and producer, the glitchy and menacing lead track "The Removalist" feat. Drapht has already racked up solid Triple J airplay.

“I'm pumped to start writing with some of the best and brightest around the traps, as well as being given the opportunity to up my own game,” said Joyride.

Made up of rappers Nick Lupi and Jimmy Nice, Spit Syndicate are pivotal figures in the Australian hip hop scene. The ARIA nominated Spit Syndicate released their 3rd and most successful album Sunday Gentleman in February 2013 where it reached #15 on the ARIA Albums Chart. The lead single "Beauty in the Bricks" achieved high rotation on Triple J and the duo notably featured on M-Phazes ARIA winning album Good Gracious. Spit Syndicate are currently writing their new album domestically and abroad.

“This is an exciting move for us, not only as individual acts but as a collective. For Spit Syndicate, we're looking forward to working with UMPG’s network of producers and songwriters, locally but especially internationally, as we continue working on our next record,” said Nick Lupi of Spit Syndicate.
