Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG) Australia has signed Sydney-based artist Chance Waters to an exclusive, worldwide publishing agreement.
“Chance is an engaging lyricist and a freakishly good hook writer. We are delighted to welcome him into the UMPG family, and we can’t wait to forge a number of local and international writing opportunities for Chance as he works on the follow-up to Infinity,” said Heath Johns, Director of A&R, UMPG Australia.
Chance Waters is one of Australia’s fastest rising new artists. After releasing his debut album Infinity in 2012, Chance was nominated for the Unearthed Artist of the Year Award at the 2012 J Awards. He also had the rare honor of seeing two of his songs, “Young and Dumb” (feat. Bertie Blackman) and “Maybe Tomorrow,” featured in last year’s Triple J Hottest 100.
“I'm massively excited about partnering with Universal Music Publishing Australia. It's a huge opportunity and a great vehicle to foster my songwriting opportunities internationally. I think we're all on the same page in terms of what I want to achieve both in and outside of Australia. Publishing and songwriting is a primary focus for me, so I couldn't be happier to be teaming up with the best possible people to get the job done,” said Chance Waters.
Chance recently announced a 19-date national Infinity album tour commencing in April, and he will spend much of 2013 in studios at home and around the globe working on his anticipated follow-up release.
