Even the most unruly of wolf packs needs a Wolfmother…
The Hangover movies have been utilising UMP writer Andrew Stockdale’s iconic and individual brand of rock since the first installment of the hugely popular comedy franchise back in 2009.
The love affair began with Wolfmother’s “Joker & The Thief” appearing in the first movie, before “Love Train” and “Woman” were used in Part 2. The latter was used in trailers and featurettes, while “Love Train” was an obvious choice to set a pivotal scene leading into the movies climax.
More Wolfmother riffs and outstanding chords were enlisted to bring on the next Hangover with “Apple Tree” “Dimension” & “Joker and the Thief” all featured in trailers for the third and final installment which opened in Australia May 2013. Hangover Part 3 quickly claimed the second highest worldwide box office opening for an R-Rated comedy, second only to The Hangover Part 2. Clearly the trailers had done the trick.
To put the success of this high octane coupling in context – Wolfmother’s mega energy, upsized guitar solos, soaring vocals and lyric themes are unsubtle & arresting with a unique and individual thrill factor….. lace those qualities with the humor and spills delivered by Phil, Stu, Doug and Alan - and you have a stir and swill recipe for a good Hangover. The Hangover franchise has already grossed over 1 Billion dollars in earnings, and gained a cult following which will continue long after the final movie is released, Andrew Stockdale’s arsenal of killer tracks is equally impressive and ever growing.
Andrew recently ventured into the wilderness as a lone wolf with his debut solo offering ‘Keep Moving’ - released June 2013.
Album title track ‘Keep Moving’ has already been picked up by the BBC Worldwide to promote their UKTV and BBC Knowledge channels. The song’s distinctive riff was used to draw the attention of stadiums full of people during the recent British and Irish Lion’s tour of Australia. The track was also included on the Iron Man 3 Hero’s Fall soundtrack release.
