Stephen Sondheim and Leonard Bernstein make it 'Possible'

Stephen Sondheim and Leonard Bernstein make it 'Possible'

“There’s a place for us, Somewhere a place for us, peace and quiet and open air, wait for us, Somewhere...”

Written by Leonard Bernstein & Stephen Sondheim, this work was originally penned for the Broadway musical West Side Story. That was 1957. 45 years on this instantly recognisable heart tugging classic has been given fresh interpretation and adapted in a glove-like fit to the Animals Australia – Make It Possible Awareness campaign.

Make It Possible aims to raise awareness of factory farming practices in Australia. The video features real life images of factory farmed animals who have been animated to vocalise Somewhere, giving a poignant new spin to this evergreen standard.

UMP’s writer principal viewed a full cut of the advertisement ahead of launch, identified with the script’s message and approved the use of the song, showing support for the campaign and cause.

Some familiar Australian names have also thrown their weight behind Make It Possible. On-board are comedians Dave Hughes & Rove McManus, tennis legend Pat Rafter and singer songwriter Missy Higgins, just to name a few. Meaning this will surely be a widely viewed campaign, and one that will no doubt resonate with a big audience and ultimately be an effective spot.
