New Zealand-born, Melbourne-based Lance Ferguson divides his time between leading and playing guitar in The Bamboos, releasing Pop/Electronica under his Lanu guise, lending his production, songwriting and guitar skills to a multitude of artists and broadcasting his radio show Sky High on ABC Double J.
Long regarded as Australia’s premier Soul outfit and one of the best live bands in the country, regardless of genre, The Bamboos have received five ARIA Awards and three APRA Music Awards nominations over their seven studio albums. “I Got Burned”, the band’s initial collaboration with Tim Rogers in 2012, and the album it came from, ‘Medicine Man’, saw the band reach new heights. The song was voted #54 in that year’s Triple J Hottest 100.
In 2015 Rogers and The Bamboos released the acclaimed ‘The Rules Of Attraction’ album, released by iconic imprint Atlantic Records. Marking their 15th year as a performing band, 2015 saw that release spawn another packed out tour as well as an ARIA Award nomination for ‘Best Blues And Roots Album’.
As Lanu Ferguson has recorded three albums, most recently 2016’s ‘The Double Sunrise’, which features Megan Washington on half it’s tracks, five of which are also co-written with her. Two songs were also co-written and feature French singer Melanie Pain (ex Nouvelle Vague). Lance was also part of Melbourne trio Cookin’ On 3 Burners, who’s track “This Girl” feat. Kylie Auldist hit #1 on the French singles chart in 2015 after it was remixed by French producer Kungs.
He has also collaborated with artists such as Aloe Blacc, Daniel Merriweather, Miss Murphy, Quantic, Lyrics Born, Alice Russell, Ohmega Watts, Bobby Fox, & many more.
His music has been included on over 150 different compilations and on TV shows including: Grey's Anatomy, CSI NYC, Ugly Betty ,Mobwives, Girlfriend's Guide To Divorce, Hellcats, Suits, One Tree Hill, Packed To The Rafters, Recruits, Offspring, Bondi Rescue, House Husbands, Dumb, Drunk & Racist and Underbelly. His music has also been licensed to feature films Good Hair, Adoration and Crazy, Stupid Love.
