Biography

For Amie Miriello, writing songs is not simply a career path, it is a vital form of expression. Having achieved early success with her band Dirtie Blonde on the Jive imprint, signing with Teresa Whites (responsible for guiding the careers of both Destiny's Child and Beyonce) to release her solo album I Came Around, and going on to write with the likes of Lindy Robbins, Dave Hodges, Mitch Allen, Kara Dioguardi, Billy Man, Sasha Skarbeck, Jeff Cohen, Greg Wells, Rob Wells, Mark Hudson, Alex Da Kidd, and Printz Board; Amie is perfectly comfortable in the business arena. Yet it is her real world experience that gives her music the emotional immediacy and pop sensibility of Leona Lewis and the world weary hunger of Emmylou Harris. This can be seen no more clearly than on "Broke" from the debut record with her new band So & So. She sings "I don't even feel any tangible pain ‘cause I'm broken inside... I just want to make all the sense of the world when I look in his eyes."

Miriello notes that it was this understanding of pain that led her to love some of the music that still influences her today. As a young woman coping with the baggage of her parents divorce, it was artists like Alanis Morisette, Joni Mitchell, Stevie Nicks, and Fiona Apple that gave a sense of comfort in those difficult times. All these factors have helped to form an artist and writer whose music isn't swallowed up in pain, but who uses her dissatisfaction to offer the listener both sympathy and inspiration. Inspiration notwithstanding, Amie knows how to party, and she's just as comfortable writing for the club or the no-holds-barred world of rock inhabited by the likes of Pink as the aforementioned indie-songwriter territory.

Already having toured with the likes of INXS, Teddy Geiger, Gavin Degraw and Nick Lachey, Amie has valuable experience in performance, and with sync liscensing already in the works for songs from So & So's new album, they are poised to quickly burst into the mainstream consciousness. Still, it is Amie's talent and passion for writing that makes her so valuable. She has called writing her "favorite part of the whole thing," adding, "Of course I want to be successful and make a living, but I also want the opportunity to write different kinds of music my whole life."

Amie's music has been featured on programs such as One Tree Hill, So You Think You Can Dance, The City, The Hills, and Friday Night Lights and the video for her song "Brand New" has achieved play on VH1's "Fresh New Music." Her heartfelt vocal stylings are featured in the song and video for MC Lars' song "23 which is being sponsored by the National Suicide Foundation. Lastly, she can be heard this spring singing on a new record by Courtney Love's acclaimed band, Hole.
