Biography
As a multi-platinum act popular in many countries across the globe, Bloodhound Gang was formed in the early nineties by James Franks, better known to the listeners as Jimmy Pop Ali, along with Lupus. The Bloodhound Gang began their non-traditionalist modern rock in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where they produced their first EP, The 1994 Dingleberry Haze (Cheese Factory). A year later the duo were signed to Columbia and they released their first full-length album, Use Your Fingers.
After Use Your Fingers BloodHound Gang returned to their prior label, Cheese Factory (which was later named Republic Records). Shortly after their return, new band-mates joined the BloodhoudGang and they released their 1996 album, One Fierce Beer Coaster (Republic Records), which featured the hit singles, “Kiss Me Where it Smells Funny,” and “I Wish I Was Queer So I Could Get Chicks.”
With Evil Jared playing bass, Spanky G on drums, and DJ Q-Ball on the turntable, the Bloodhound Gang soon began to attract airplay on rock stations. They moved to Geffen Records for the release of their 1996 single, “Fire Water Burn.” The Gang’s album immediately made an impact on the Top 100. Their follow-up to “Fire Water Burn,” entitled “Why is Everybody Always Pickin’ on Me,” was promoted with a video which featured John Denver.
The Bloodhound Gang’s 1999 album, Hooray For Boobies (Republic/Geffen), went multi-platinum, selling more than 3 million copies worldwide and topped charts in the U.S. and Europe.
