Biography

Twenty years have been gone since the first time Memphis la Blusera performed on stage their Blues. Between that night surrounded with friends in “Unione y Benevolenza” and today where the reality find them consecrated with “Triple Platinum” status, and 2500 shows in all stages along our country, runs the history of one of the most legendary band of our local music.

“Memphis La Blusera” has made his debut on May the 5th of 1978, in a very difficult situation for the Argentinean history, mostly for those who selected the art as a choice of life.

They have known how to give their own style to their songs taking reference from the most popular Blues artists of Chicago City and others of Argentina like Manal. Their coherence and purity have become them a cult artist.

As they remember: “We have nothing to do with fashion but we believe that was what stay us alive. In Buenos Aires Rock we went decided to break it out. We dressed up with tie and coat and on stage the audience insult us and through apples to our self”.

On the early 90´ with the release of their new album entitled “Memphis la Blusera” they won the respect of their audience turning this relationship more stronger with “Nunca Tuve Tanto Blues” who reached the “Gold Album” status, followed by many performances made with the bests of this musical genre as B.B. King, Albert King, Taj Mahal and Chuck Berry, besides as they were considered the most outstanding group of the “Alligator Blues Festival”.

Their performances always have been synonym of happiness. With their new live album “Memphis en Vivo en el Gran Rex” the group has achieved their best moment selling 200.000 copies (three times “Platinum Album” status) and the songs “La Bifurcada” and “Un Monton de Nada” climbed to the first place of the FM radio stations charts.

During 1998 summer season, the group has performed in Mar del Plata city, performing with prestigious artists like Lalo Schifrin and Mariano Mores achieving a turnout of 80.000 persons, and also they were the responsible of ending the “Algesiras Jazz and Blues Festival” of Pinamar city with an audience of 80.000 persons.

Nowadays we can listen their music at the AM and FM Radio stations, and TV networks as the lei motif of many programs.

“Hoy es Hoy” has been recorded during 1998 at Fito Paez´ “Circo Beat” studio, and mastered in Los Angeles city. In December of 1998 this album has achieved the “Gold” Status, coinciding with the SADAIC award gave it by this chamber to Adrian Otero (singer of “Memphis La Blusera”) as the best author, Composer and singer of this genre.

Some of these songs have been listened during their participation as special guest Artists at “Bee Gees’s ” concert at Boca Junior’s Stadium in October of 1997(this stadium has a capacity of 60.000 persons).

During June of 1999 they performed at “La Trastienda” theatre, recording, with an acoustic taste that performance. This album is called “El Acustico” and it has sold 15.000 units.

At the beginning of the new millenium, there were a lot of important things that has happened in the artistic career of Memphis La Blusera: In first place, their live performance in “Argentina en Vivo” that was made all along our country with the participation of the most prestigious artists of our local Music at “River Plate” stadium with an audience of 85.000. In second place, Memphis was selected for the “Second Argentinean Festival” celebrated in Miami. And in third place, the acquisition of two new musicians like Lucas Sedler (guitar player), pupil of Miguel Botafogo, and German Wiedemer (keyboards and Hammond player) who performed with famous artists like “Ratones Paranoicos” and “David Lebon” too.

In the beginning of 2001, Memphis La Blusera performed for second time in the “Argentina Live II” being the most charismatic group of all, performing in Santa Fe city for an audience of 28.000 persons.

The same year they sign a new agreement with Warner Music.

“Angelitos Culones” has been released in May of 2001 and it has reached the 20.000 units of sales in only two months. In it performed prestigious musicians like Luis Conte, Michael Thompson and Kenny O´Brien.

In 2003 they performed at the “Teatro Colon” (“Colon Theatre”) recording on stage their best songs they did during their entire artistic career, keeping them in our memory for the rest of our life.
