Peer was born and raised in Ljusdal - a small town in mid-west Sweden. His interest for music arose at a very early age and he began to sharpen his skills at the local music school where he picked up his favourite instruments: drums, bass and keyboards. After high school graduation and pre-college music studies he decided to pursue a career as professional session musician and moved to Stockholm, the Swedish capital and Scandinavian music business centre. Shortly after his move he had earned a great reputation among artists and labels and became one of the “top names” on the session musician circuit. But after a couple of years of touring and numerous recording sessions Peer felt it was time to move on to the next level and explore other musical areas : songwriting and music production. Murlyn Music Group’s co-founder/co-owner Anders “Bag” Bagge, the world-renowned producer and songwriter heard a couple of Peer’s songs and impressed by what he had heard Bag invited Peer to collaborate with him on a couple of writing/recording projects. Later in the spring of 2001 Bag and Peer had begun to write and produce on a regular basis. The results eventually reached Murlyn Songs A&R department and soon thereafter Peer signed an exclusive worldwide publishing deal with Murlyn Songs, in heavy competition with several other publishers. Peer has since then, gone from strength to strength. Superstar Celine Dion cut two of his co-written songs – “Have You Ever” and “Sorry For Love” on her 2002 hit album A New Day Has Come (over 9 million albums sold worldwide) which he also co-produced with Murlyn’s Anders “Bag” Bagge and Arnthor Birgisson. After having delivered these two songs he was shortly thereafter invited to Miami by Celine Dion and producer Vito Luprano to work on the rest of the album. A fantastic achievement by a newcomer. Celine Dion’s hit single “I Drove All Night” was co-produced by Peer and he has also delivered three additional songs on her current album One Heart (Epic). Besides “Have You Ever” and “Sorry For Love“ ( included on ths new album as well) he has co-written the wonderful uptempo pop song “Naked” with American top writer Troy Verges and Anders “Bag” Bagge. “Have You Ever “ is the new single taken from “One Heart”. This year has also seen him co-write/co-produce the wonderful ballad “Timeless” for American Idols stars Justin & Kelly (19/RCA). This song can be heard in their 20th Century Fox movie musical “From Justin To Kelly”. Furthermore, British band Triple 8 (Polydor) scored a UK Top 10 with Peer’s co-written/co-produced single “Knockout” back in June. Peer has recently produced songs for Epic US artist Lara Fabian and has co-written material with various top writers: Troy Verges, Hillary Lindsay, Stephanie Bentley, Tom Nichols, John Reid and Aleena to name a few. Besides keyboards, bass and drums Peer is a well-educated studio engineer and ProTools/Audio Logic engineer. Peer Astrom has rapidly become one of Murlyn Music Group’s most sought-after writers/producers.
