PAUL SIMON RECEIVES TOWERING SONG AWARD AT SONGWRITERS HALL OF FAME
UMPG’s
Paul Simon
was honored with the Towering Song Award for “Bridge Over Troubled Water.” The song reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1970 and stayed at the top of the charts for six weeks. It also received Record of the Year and Song of the Year at the GRAMMY awards in 1971 and has been recorded over 300 times. The Towering Song Award is presented each year to the creators of an individual song that has influenced our culture in a unique way over many years.
